Accommodation    Administrative center of Ilyinsky region. Formed in 1979. The distance from the settlement to Ivanovo is 90 km. The population in 01.01.2001 was 4,1 thousand people. The distance to the railway station Rostov - North is 50 km, to the station Teikovo - North 50 km.
    The settlement of Ilyinskoye is first mentioned in historical documents in 1619, when the village was granted to prince D.M.Pozharsky by the Royal Decree for the use in herederoty perpetuity for great services to Russia during the struggle with Polish, Lithuanian and German invaders. In 1620 prince Pozharsky gave the village of Ilyinskoye as a dowry to his sister Daria Mikhailovna, who married prince Khovansky. The Khovansky had been the masters of the village for 250 years. The village was name Ilyinskoye-Khovanskoye because of this surname. Ilyinsky region was formed in 1929 by the Decree of TSIK form 10.06.1929.
    The status of regional center influenced the development of the settlement of Ilyinskoye-Khovanskoye. Industrial bases of Ilyinsky inter communal building organization (PMK), road building organization PMK, PMK-6 for repairing and exploitation of land improvement systems, Ilyinsky agricultural machines, workshop for everyday repairs and others were built here during the post - war years. A secondary school, a kindergarten and the Palace of Culture with a gym appeared.

Resuscitating Cross (Holy place)

The place where pilgrims gathered from places located beyond of hundreds and thousands kilometres. It is delivered that this miraculous crucifixion had f healing power.
    The Nikolskaya church in the grave-yard near the Jesus’ Cross (1776). Before there stood one after another wooden churches.
    There is a legend that in 1423 herdsmen who grazed herds and flocks could see the alive crucified Christ coming in the cross out of the heavens. The vision was accompanied with herdsmen’s talk with Nikolay-the miracle man who ordered to erect on the place of the miraculous appearance a church which he ordered to name by his name. Carpenters tried to erect the church on a dry place and not on the swamp. But they failed to do this as on the it appeared by a miraculous way a hill and all materials and tools were carried there. Therefore this place is named resuscitating. In chronicles of the churches there are registered 17 miraculous of pilgrims recoveries.
    At present pilgrims from Moscow, Zagorsk visit holy places on the religious feasts. Near the resuscitating cross there is restored the monastery.
